What is The Before You Go Project?
There are things a parent hopes their children will never need.
And there are things they almost certainly will.
The Before You Go Project exists for the second category.
This is a place for the conversations, convictions, and everyday wisdom a father would want to pass on before his children step out into the world on their own paths. Not all at once. Not as a rulebook. But as a steady, trustworthy voice they can return to as life unfolds.
Some words are meant for childhood.
Some for young adulthood.
Some for marriage, work, failure, loss, or rebuilding.
You may not know which season you’re in yet — but the words are here when you arrive.
The name draws from an old biblical motif – that each of us has a way that we should go, and i:
- To equip and strengthen
- To walk, depart, and follow a path
- To live faithfully on the way set before you
It reflects a simple conviction:
I couldn’t walk the road for you.
But I could tell you what I learned before you went.
This project is grounded in faith, shaped by responsibility, and written for the long haul.
How This Began
This project grew out of becoming a father — and realizing how much more I needed to learn.
Not just how to provide or protect, but how to be grounded. How to think clearly. How to suffer faithfully. How to speak truth without fear, and humility without hesitation. How to live in a way that could withstand the questions, doubts, and challenges my children will one day bring to me.
I began paying closer attention to Scripture.
To men who had walked longer roads.
To hard-earned lessons, personal failures, and quiet forms of faithfulness.
Before You Go is the result of that posture: a father trying to be prepared — not with perfect answers, but with tested convictions rooted in faith.
What This Is
This is not a platform built for speed, outrage, or attention.
It’s a long game.
A living archive shaped by a Christian worldview, written with the belief that truth is not only something to be defended, but something to be lived — patiently, imperfectly, and over time.
The voice here is intentional:
